Don’t Shop for Christmas on Christmas Eve
Have you ever braved the lines at department stores on Christmas Eve because you “forgot” to get presents? Well, Christmas Day comes on December 25th every year.
This is why it is hard to believe that political candidates wait so long to order their campaign signs. If I had a dime everytime a candidate admitted that he/she was “a little behind” on ordering signs, well, I would be on a tropical island right now.
You need to have a time-line and a check sheet when it comes to ordering your campaign supplies. Get help organizing these tasks. At a minimum, get a hand held scheduler that reminds you to stay on task with a resounding “RING.”
Order your signs 45-60 days in advance. You know when your election day is. If you wait until 30 days before, you are going to run into a few problems. One, the printer will be bogged down with orders from other candidates who are doing last minute shopping. This will result in poor turnaround time and a possible rush fee. Secondly, you will not have time to get your signs up in time for them to make an impact. Lastly, piece of mind. Wouldn’t you rather have signs sitting in your garage waiting for volunteers than the other way around?
Being responsible and timely will take a load of stress off of your already crowded plate.
